cinematographer - digital colourist - independent grading studio
Beth woodruff is a cinematographer and digital colourist working with a wide spectrum of moving image content for cinema, online and broadcast. Her experience with colour grading began at Cinelab, London where she worked in celluloid film processing and telecine. She then worked for a post production facility where she shadowed professional colourist Ayumi Ashley and gained insight into the post production workflow. These experiences inspired her to start up her own independent grading facility in Scotland. Based on her experience, she developed a studio with ideal conditions for colour accuracy and client viewing. Beth’s colour work has travelled the globe on the festival circuit, screening at Camerimage, Raindance and Edinburgh International Film Festival. Her clients include some of the largest commercial and broadcast companies in Scotland with her work being showcased nation wide.
Beth graduated from the University of Edinburgh with a first class honours degree in cinematography. Her graduation work received a series of accolades including a premiere at BFI London film festival, Aesthetica and was awarded the Scottish Film Prize at the Glasgow short film festival. Since then, she has worked professionally as a colourist for feature films, TV commercials and online content with clients and filmmakers across the UK. She continues to develop her cinematography work and has built a reputation for choosing projects carefully and maintaining strong relationships with filmmakers. Beth has a background in fine art and painting which continues to feed into her work both behind the camera and in the grading suite. By specialising in these two areas, she feels that this has allowed her to control the image pipeline from beginning to end.
